Performance Under Pressure Nomination #3 - Support Staff

In this 3 part Performance Under Pressure series, we will shift our attention to those typically seen as operating behind the scenes: support staff!

You can read about nominations received by administrators here or teachers here.

Anybody that has worked in (or even stepped foot in) a school knows about the importance of support staff. Their title is perfect because they help to support all that happens in the school and district! From administrative assistants to custodial staff, cafeteria staff to teacher aides, bus drivers to technology and everything in between, support staff make a difference each and every day.

Because of their various roles in schools, their impacts are even more visible during times such as these. Educators across the world have similar sentiment - almost 46% of the Performance Under Pressure nominations went to support staff!

These nominations include stories about staying calm and managing situations caused by COVID-19 with expertise, creating engaging activities for the students, helping with school-related work while also juggling home life, and providing humor when needed.

However, one story highlighted the tremendous impact support staff has:

Kim is the Transition Coordinator of our district. She has gathered multiple resources across the district that have a wide range of abilities. Kim has made herself available to the staff for questions, concerns and advice whenever needed. However, that is nothing new for Kim. She works hard to maintain a positive attitude at all times, and strives to assist anyone who is in need. Kim has become a person that you can always count on, in a crisis or at anytime. She is the utmost professional and extraordinarily knowledgeable. Kim is someone that is the first to jump in whenever something needs to get done and she does it well.” ~ Jeanette

Kim, we commend you for making such a tremendous impact at your district. It’s clear that you have a true passion for your work, and you show concern and care for all those around you. Your positive attitude is noted and appreciated!

Great job, Kim!

Kim is not alone. in fact, support staff received the highest percentage of Performance Under Pressure nominations of any group.

Thank you to all of the support staff who have made such a tremendous impact on their schools. You are appreciated!
