What is ESSER?

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) is financial support provided to public schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than $193 billion in aid is provided to state education agencies (SEAs), and $9.7 billion has been directed to governors for their discretionary spending and for private schools.

With these funds, schools are able to address learning loss among students, purchase educational technology, preparations for reopening, provide principals and others school leaders with the resources necessary to address the needs of their individual schools, and more. Please visit your state’s Department of Education website for further information.
